Gerald W. Wilson, Jr. Birth Place: Roxboro, North Carolina Current Location: Slightly left of reality Favorite Artist: Sting Favorite TV show: The Simpsons Favorite Quote: "It’s a beautiful day, birds are singing, bees are trying to have sex with them, as is my understanding." - Bart Simpson Favorite Movie: This is Spinal Tap Favorite Food: pepperoni and mushroom pizza Favorite Drinks: sweet tea, Mountain Dew, and cold or hot CHOCOLATE Favorite Candy: Hershey’s candy coated eggs Pet Peeves: politics and liars (is that redundant?) Places I Want to Visit: The moon, Stonehenge, and Ireland Personal Bio I grew up a po’ boy in Person County, NC and not much has changed, ‘cept I don’t live in Person County any more. My first experience performing music was on trumpet for my school's marching band for 6 years. But I was inspired by my cousin Jay to play bass. Working at TG&Y on a remodeling job, I was able to save up enough money to buy my first bass on my 17th birthday. It was a ’74 Epiphone. I taught myself how to play to the tunes of The Police, Led Zeppelin, and KISS. I joined my first band, Bad Influence, in 1990 after answering an ad for a bassist. We performed many covers of popular hard rock tunes for about three years. Working as an electrician’s helper in 1993, I met a guy who introduced me to some former members of the Raleigh-based band, Crosswire, who had left to pursue more creative endeavors. The band that formed was dubbed Moral Decay and in early 1994 we recorded a studio demo of original songs. Our repertoire included more than 20 original, hard hitting, innovative heavy metal tunes. This group disbanded back in 1996, although not long after, I continued to jam and write music with the lead guitarist, Jeff Stigall. Cut to now, in search of new challenges, to live up to my motto of learning something new every day, I answered an ad placed by Jonn Buzby. I was drawn to the creative style of Land of Chocolate, especially the shifting signatures and tempos. This music has re-ignited my creative energy and I am confident that this opportunity will lead me to my lifelong dream of becoming a full time performance artist.
