Welcome to the Legal Bootlegs Section!

You are invited to download and share these mp3 files.  New tracks will be posted regularly and these will then be deleted, so grab them now!  There's always music on the LOC MySpace page, as well as video on YouTube (click here).

Just a reminder, you can also download full-length mp3 versions of "Regaining the Feel," "Double Standard Booth," and "We Love You Lots."  And check out the two-minute samples of every track that can be found on CD Baby for Unikorn on the Cob and Regaining the Feel.

"Killing with Kindness"

"Misanthropic Cattle"

These recordings are from the ProgDay Saturday Night Show in 2003.  "Killing with Kindness" here features the universal chord of life, played on the organ at the very beginning.  The recording of "Misanthropic Cattle" includes an instrumental introduction that we always do live, but which didn't get on the studio version.

The following are "Weed" music files from Regaining the Feel:

Military Mindset          Mechanical Pencil          Ungrateful

Film at 11          The Pursuit of Happiness      Killing with Kindness

Weed music files will play on any Windows machine (not Mac) and allow the user to play the song three times before s/he is required to buy the song.  In order to encourage listeners to circulate these files digitally, Weed offers a rebate on files others buy that you have purchased and shared with them.  So if you listen to a song and decide to buy it, the file is imprinted with your Weed account ID and you pay 99 cents.  When the next person buys that particular file, you get 20%, the next pays you 10%, and the third pays you 5%.  Ultimately, the song may only cost 65 cents after rebates on subsequent sales.

The "Weed" concept is to encourage and enable a band's songs to spread out on the internet--thus the name of the company.  Rather than fight downloading, the idea is to take advantage of it.  If all works correctly, the artist not only gets more exposure, but also gets paid with each sale at a rate just a bit less than other digital download services.  For more info, check out this link:

If you already have the CD, there's no sense paying for individual songs again and we're not asking you to do that.  But we hope you will download these files and help us circulate them. You can also share the links, if you don't want to hassle with the files themselves. And if you don't have the CD yet, please try the weed files out and see what you think.
